Yup, benar itulah kesan dari SAP. Exclusive, mahal, sulit dan ruwet, itulah gambaran di perusahaan yang menggunakan SAP. Setiap perusahaan harus mempersiapkan dana yang besar dan sdm IT yang mumpuni untuk maintain SAP, baik itu untuk biaya implementasi SAP, infrastruktur, lisensi userid dan maintenance fee. Untuk perusahaan besar sekelas Telkom, Pertamina dan Semen Gresik mungkin tidak mempermasalahkan, akan tetapi untuk perusahaan kecil dan UKM akan berpikir berulang kali untuk menggunakan SAP. Sebagai gambarang saya pernah menemukan perusahaan yang implementasi SAP ECC 6.0 modul FI dengan pengguna user aktif sejumlah 20 orang akan menghabiskan dana 3,4 M. Hmm kalau perusahaan besar sih tidak ada masalah, akan tetapi jika perusahaan kecil akan berpikir ulang untuk implementasi SAP. Jika implementasi modul-modul besar SAP bisa diperkirakan untuk biaya implementasi awal saja.
begitu juga dengan jumlah user yang dipakai, perkiraan untuk user license yang paling murah adalah per 1 user/per-tahun skitar 2500 USD/tahun atau sekitar 2500 x 9000 = 22.500.000 per tahun. Jika jumlah user dalam 1 perusahaan adalah 2000 tinggal dikalikan saja untuk per tahun sekitar 45 M per tahun. Lumayan besar untuk investasi IT di perusahaan. Kalo melihat kecenderungan perusahaan yang menggunakan SAP adalah perusahaan yang besar, mungkin karena melihat semboyan the best run bussiness run sap cukup mengena di mereka
